At Ubisoft Forward, the developers showed a whopping 13 minutes of gameplay scenes from the latest Assassin’s Creed installment, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. The focus was mainly on the two playable characters Naoe and Yasuke and their different approaches in the game.

In the gameplay video, Ubisoft showed a complete mission from the game. It takes place in the castle town of Fukuchiyama in the province of Tamba. Here, the two protagonists Naoe and Yasuke are supposed to track down a corrupt daimyo.

The presentation placed particular emphasis on the different approaches of the two characters: Naoe is a nimble and stealthy shinobi, while Yasuke is a powerful samurai.

At the beginning of the game they are on opposite sides, but join forces as the game progresses. As a player you can switch between the two at any time and adapt your individual approach to the circumstances or simply to your personal playing style.

Naoe’s skills include grappling hooks, throwing knives, and the ability to perform assassinations from high above. She also has the iconic assassin’s hidden blade. While she is vulnerable in close combat, she makes up for it with her skill at evading.

Yasuke, on the other hand, is the man for the rough stuff. He has numerous powerful weapons at his disposal, such as the typical katana of a samurai, but also the teppo, a rifle for long-range combat.

A new feature will be the so-called Spy Network. This will allow you to send out spies to scout out locations and obtain useful information about destinations, habits and other secrets of the world.
