Recently, a leak from retailer GameStop caused a stir when it announced a specific release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The company has now issued a clarification on this matter.
At the Summer Game Fest and the accompanying showcases, the remake Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater recently received its first gameplay, but Konami has yet to announce a release date. However, the rumor mill has been churning around this topic recently. An insider report initially suggested a postponement to 2025, but recently GameStop, one of the largest game retailers, gave hope that it could still happen this year.
After the release of the gameplay trailer, the company briefly published a post on X (formerly Twitter) announcing the start of the presentations – coupled with a specific release date that was never officially announced. An accidental early release by GameStop?
GameStop itself has now taken the wind out of the sails of speculation about an impending release in mid-November. In a clarification via X, they now emphasize that the supposed release date for the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, which was briefly seen in the social media post, was incorrect. Such a clearly worded denial suggests that it was not an accidental early release, but actually a false statement.
At the same time, GameStop points out that the final release date for the game will be announced by Konami; we will only get clarity then as to whether November 17, 2024 might actually be the right date. However, according to GameStop, pre-orders are still possible now.
The exciting question remains: When will Konami itself comment on the release date of Metal Gear Solid Delta? Until this announcement is made, the potential postponement to 2025 will likely continue to be hotly debated in the rumor mill. We’ll keep you updated!
