Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will also feature couch co-op, but this gameplay option is not available on all platforms.

Anyone who wants to play the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 with friends on the couch in the fall can, as we all know, do so, but not on all platforms. This has now been confirmed. Split-screen gameplay is reserved for certain platforms.

Couch co-op is limited to the newer consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Although Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will also be released for the older platforms PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, according to the new support article from Activision, couch co-op is not supported here.

Specifically, it says: “Split-screen gameplay (two players sharing one screen) will be available in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. To ensure performance integrity, split-screen gameplay is not supported on Xbox One or PlayStation 4.”

Such a step is certainly not surprising considering the age of the last console generation, but it may still be disappointing for many gamers. For example, it was recently confirmed that around half of the current 118 million monthly active PlayStation users are still using the PS4.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was recently presented in detail at the Xbox Games Showcase. The game will be released directly on Xbox Game Pass, but will require a permanent internet connection – even for the campaign. It will be released on October 25, 2024 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
