Which iPads will be compatible with the new iPadOS 18?

iPadOS 18

It’s been a few days since Tim Cook and his entire team published all the news about their operating systems and if it is true that artificial intelligence made sense with Apple Intelligence, we were a little frozen in thinking that it will take a lot of time to be able to test all these new functions. However, Apple has already released the first beta versions for developers, even of iPadOS 18, the next big update to the iPad operating system.

Actually

Big needs for iPads to be compatible with iPadOS 18

Every year that passes on Apple devices is a year that we take out of the major update cycle. That is, we know that after a few years Apple will start to limit new features from major updates until, finally, they decide to stop supporting these devices and they are no longer compatible with new operating systems. It already happened last year with iPadOS 17 and even though all expectations were placed on it iPadOS 18 was going to follow the same pattern, this was not the case.

The reason is that Apple has decided that iPads compatible with iPadOS 18 will be the same as with iPadOS 17,

that’s to say:

  • iPad: 7th generation and later
  • iPad mini: 5th generation and later
  • iPad Air: 3rd generation and later
  • iPad Pro: 1st generation 11-inch and later, 3rd generation 12.9-inch and later
