Even though the 2010s were characterized by big companies like Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft continuing to release video games and dominate the market, 2012 was special, as some of the best games we had that year were a little more modern in style.
A rather special year
As we like to look back in time, as always with our colleagues at Metacritic, we have studied which are the five best titles released in 2012. That said, we can start with the best.
5. Mark of the Ninja
We start with one of those titles perfect for lovers of a good two-dimensional title. The best thing it offers is its unique gameplay, which combines the most classic platformer with stealth elements. Without a doubt, it is the perfect experience for those who love a good indie title. It has a 90 on Metacritic. Not bad for fifth place.
4. Evolution of the tests
Do you remember those cute computer games available in the early 2010s, in which you had to do stunts with a motorcycle? Well, this game is the higher budget version. Pirouettes, very cool motorcycles and very curious milks are what you will find in this video game which has a 90 on Metacritic. Definitely highly recommended to try.
3. Travel
Speaking of slightly smaller and independent titles, Journey This is one of the most famous examples. It stands out in several aspects, such as its graphics, unique like few games, and its story, surprisingly deep and mature. IF you haven’t tried it, do so, because it has a 92 on Metacritic.
2. Mass Effect 3
The year 2012 marked the conclusion of the original trilogy of Mass Effect, one of the most beloved franchises in video game history. Although it divided fans at the time, we can now all agree that it’s a great cathedral game that has a very good rating on Metacritic, 93, to be more exact.
1. Persona 4 Gold
A saga that has gained particular popularity in recent times is Character. The fourth part of the saga wins the award for best game of 2012, especially the Golden version, which included all the additional content released for this title. It’s a gem that more than deserves its incredible 93 score on Metacritic.
And you? What is your favorite game of 2012? It’s been 12 years since then, but despite this, many titles are still played today, such was their success at the time. Without going any further, we ourselves gave Mass Effect a hard time not too long ago, since its remastered version makes it more than enjoyable even by today’s standards.
