If you are a fan of the persona series, you have probably fused a Mitama once or twice. In Shin Megami Tensei VMitama are much more than generic demons. Instead, they are the equivalent of the metal slimes in Dragon Questor Audino in Pokémon Black & White. Mitamas drop valuable loot when defeated, including consumables to level up your party and relics you can sell for cash.
You’ll occasionally see Mitama roaming the overworld. If you have a demon companion, they can also dig up a Mitama if they spot points of interest. The catch is that Mitamas resist all elements except one, which is chosen randomly in each battle, and if you don’t kill it in the first round, it will most likely run away. This is another reason why binoculars are so valuable: they practically guarantee a successful encounter with a Mitama.
When you encounter a Mitama, have the Nahobino use binoculars. If it has a weakness to an element your active party can’t use, have the next party member replace it with another who knows the spell you need. Have the remaining party members use Pass, which triggers additional turns that will get you to the ally whose spell you need. Defeat the Mitama, collect your rewards, and repeat whenever the opportunity arises.
Alternatively, the Almighty element essentially indicates that an attack is neutral. Enemies aren’t vulnerable to it, but they can’t resist it either. So once your party starts learning some Almighty moves, you can use those in Mitama encounters as well.
