News culture Each episode of this Star Wars series costs twice the budget of this science fiction film and is far from being unanimously approved! Disney no longer knows how to do it…
Often mocked on the networks, the new Star Wars series benefits from a budget that makes people skeptical.
But where did all the money go? According to some sources at the New York Times, the Disney+ series The Acolyte would have a budget per episode that would be almost double that of the film Godzilla Minus One ($15 million). A statement that spilled a lot of ink and sparked discussions about the use of the colossal production funds. While each episode reportedly costs around $22.5 million, some wonder if the series justifies such a price when they believe that Godzilla Minus One’s visual effects and VFX are much more impressive. The total budget of the series would reach $180 million, an amount still less than the $250 million spent on Andor and its twelve episodes.
“Where did all the money go?”
Replies in response to the above tweet sharing the information: “And yet he has no qualities. Think about it. Where did all the money go?“, “It doesn’t make sense that they made such a bad show with such a high budget“, “I enjoyed Godzilla Minus One and doubt I could enjoy even a minute of this abomination“Nobody seems particularly enthusiastic about the Acolyte experience. Still, the press review score on Rotten Tomatoes is at a very high 84%, and critics agree.”The Acolyte is a line of Padawans who have the potential to become a Master
However, audiences are much less convinced and give the film a rating of 15%, accusing it of having too slow a pace, poor image quality and a weak narrative. Despite the criticism, The Acolyte stands out somewhat for exploring a little-known period of the Star Wars universe: the High Republic. An era of peace and prosperity provides the backdrop for a gripping storyline pitting outnumbered Sith against an all-powerful Jedi Order. The series also features female characters, particularly witches, who use the Force and take a holistic approach to that power.
