The upcoming BioWare role-playing game Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be playable entirely offline.

The increasing online requirement for single-player games has been one of the biggest annoyances for many players in recent years.

As Game Director Corinne Busche explains in a Dicord Q&A, the upcoming BioWare role-playing game Dragon Age: The Veilguard will, contrary to the prevailing trend, be playable completely offline. Not even a connection to an EA account is necessary:

“It is very important for us that [das System] is integrated into the client. You can play the game completely offline. No connection, you don’t have to connect to your EA accounts. That was a really big request.”

Busche thus confirms her statements from an interview with IGNin which she also stated that Dragon Age: The Veilguard will dispense with microtransactions and battle passes:

“You don’t need to connect online. Our focus is on making the most complete single-player game we can. This means you won’t be able to carry over choices from previous titles, although there will be options when creating a character to customize the state of the world.”

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is scheduled to be released in fall 2024 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
