New dance tracks added to Peacemaker Season 2

The first season of Peacemaker was great in every way, but its opening dance number (set to Wig Wam’s “Do Ya Wanna Taste It” (2010)) was unforgettable. Now, we know that the second season will feature a new production.

In addition to directing and overseeing DC’s entire big screen and television endeavors, James Gunn is also actively working (as writer-director) on a new Superman movie, the Monster Squad animated series, and even a second season of Peacemaker, a series that will bring the eponymous character and his companions into the rebooted DCU continuity.

Plot details for Peacemaker Season 2 are being kept under wraps at the moment, but we do know that most of the main cast from Season 1 will be returning, and Alan Tudyk, who helped create the beloved and iconic opening dance, has confirmed (via Collider) that the new season will kick off with a brand new musical number.

For those who don’t know this fun fact: Tudyk’s wife, Charissa Barton, was responsible for the choreography for the series, and then Tudyk himself served as a stand-in for star John Cena during the early days of the pandemic as the dance was still being figured out. “So I was in all of her dances—she would send him the dances and I was always in on them. It was so cool,” he explained, before adding that he’s “terrible at dancing.” Given the awkward nature of the dances (which make up the entire show), he probably wouldn’t have looked out of place if he’d appeared in the finale.

The show’s second season is currently filming, so the question of whether or not they’re working on a new dance was obviously raised in the interview. Tudyk would only confirm that they are: “We haven’t started yet. We’re working on it right now.” However, he also added that he’s been reading the scripts and loving them: “I just started reading the episode, and that’s why I started talking about it. Oh my god, it’s amazing.” We’re definitely hoping for the best for this episode.
