From Software Fire ring was a huge hit in 2022 and one of the best games of the year. Unfortunately for many PC gamers, when the open-world action RPG came out suffered from all sorts of terrible problems. However, this was not the case on the Steam Deck, where Valve actually implemented some fixes to alleviate stuttering and other issues. This had the strange effect of making the Steam Deck one of the best ways to play Fire ringand consequently this is the place where many, many people have played it. However, now many players who return before the upcoming DLC will not be able to enjoy Fire ring on Steam Deck.
On June 20, Namco Bandai and From Software released update 1.12 for Fire ringrequired to play the new DLC. However, it seems that this update has broken the RPG on Steam Deck, as some players are reporting that they cannot even connect to the servers to play Fire ring. Others report a strange error where Fire ring If you leave your Steam Deck idle for more than five minutes, it may stop accepting inputs.
On Thursday, the official Fire ring Twitter account detected the input error shortly after the update went live. It confirmed that the team was aware of the issue on Steam Deck and was already working on a hotfix. No release date or window was given for when to expect this update, although the developer “apologised” to Steam Deck players for the “inconvenience”.
I assume that many players who have bought Fire ring on Steam Deck have access to a decent PC to play the game on until the hotfix is live. But for those who don’t have a gaming PC and own Fire ring on the Steam Deck this is a shitty situation that will hopefully be fixed soon.
