Update: Eurogamer spoke to GAME who denied the new Gfinity report and said the following:
“This reporting is categorically not true. GAME continues to support the physical games market, offering a wide range of physical games, hardware, software, accessories and digital gift cards, in-store and online.”
It’s Gfinity reporting via its sources that the large British video game chain GAME is pulling out of video game sales. This means that you won’t be able to visit your local store and immediately purchase new or used video game software or hardware. The company will continue, but will only take pre-orders for upcoming games or pre-orders for new hardware. Gfinity says that sources it spoke to “expressed disappointment at the end of video game sales” and that “there is little faith in the brand”. Toy inventory will continue to make up the majority of in-store content on GAME.
