Helldivers 2 just received a new Master Order, and everyone who isn’t busy hiding in the trees in Garcrux already knows about it. The problem is – the automatons are heading for Malevelon Creek. The other problem is – there’s some disagreement between hardcore and casual gamers when it comes to plans that could stop them.
After rescuing some human children, you’ll be pleased to hear that the lure of the new biome didn’t stop the Hellstalkers from killing enough Terminid children to succeed in the final MO. Now, however, the problem of getting everyone to agree arises again in a slightly more familiar form.

Community Manager Twinbeard informed everyone that the last command resulted in “an increase in the number of Terminid spores measured around the worst affected planets (but completely harmless!)”, which I believe will not come back to plague super-Earths in the future. He conveyed this new information in the following terms.
“An old and familiar threat has reared its head again: the Automata are advancing towards their old Vanguard areas,” they wrote. “The Automata appear to be attempting to retake Malevelon Creek and neighboring systems, and they are making a concerted effort to push south. Their old factories cannot fall into the hands of the Automata menace.”
“But more importantly,” the CM added, “given the huge price we paid to capture Malevelon Creek, we cannot allow it to be defiled. We must hold the Xzar sector and prevent the robots from establishing a foothold. Go ahead, spill the oil!”
That last bit, of course, got people excited to take on the challenge, but how exactly they were supposed to protect the planets the robots were heading to—Mort, Ingmar, Poply Nine, Mantes, and Draupnir—brought back an old feud. Long story short, even though the game now shows off the supply lines that some hardcore players have been using to formulate their often rather elaborate attack plans, many have taken a simpler approach. Follow the herd—or “blob,” as players on Discord call it—and land on the planet that most players seem to be fighting for.
While many Super Earth extremists seem to recognize that this isn’t something they can control, no matter how many complicated diagrams they draw, some still think Arrowhead could do a better job of making the general public aware of what it means that supply lines are now a thing in the game.
“I would have thought this would be mentioned in the message from Super Earth that pops up at the start of MO,” someone wrote in a thread on the subject, “something like ‘Helldivers can follow orders by fighting directly on these planets or occupying the source planet of the socialist robot invasion.’ Some kind of fanfare suggesting supply lines give us options for finishing MO.”
Did you spend 1000 hours coming up with a battle plan for this MO, or do you think it’s a bit unreasonable for hardcore Helldivers 2 fans to have to worry about things like supply lines when they’re just trying to have fun? Let us know below!
