If you still have something to do in Final Fantasy XIV, you don’t have much time left to do it, because there is a long maintenance break before the launch of Dawntrail.
Only a few days left until Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail is released. The new expansion of Square Enix’s MMORPG starts on July 2nd and some players can already start in Early Access. But before that you will have to do without the game completely for a few days because there is a long maintenance period before the release.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, at 11 a.m., the servers will be shut down and will remain there for around two days. During this time, update 7.0 will be loaded on to the servers and will be available for preload during the maintenance. You can start the preload on consoles at 1 p.m. and on PC a day later at 5 p.m. At least that’s Square Enix’s plan.
The servers should be available again from around 11am on Friday, at least approximately – as we know, there can always be delays. As soon as the servers are back online, those who pre-order can start the game’s early access, the regular release date remains July 2nd. The schedule applies to all platforms, whether PC or console.
So if you still have something to do in preparation for the expansion, you don’t have much time left. After that, you’ll have plenty to do anyway, because Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail brings you the new continent of Tural, the female Hrothgar as a new race, there are new jobs and of course a whole lot of new content. In addition, Update 7.0 also includes a comprehensive graphical overhaul of the game, which will hopefully make the MMO a lot prettier than before.
If you don’t know what to do during the downtime, you can still watch the preview of Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail from our colleague Basti or put the launch trailer on a loop.
