Netflix had some success last year with the live-action adaptation of One Piece. This was impressive, as anime adaptations are usually not that great. But the streaming giant managed to capture the spirit of the Straw Hats and didn’t suffer from overly bad CGI. So it’s not surprising that a second season was quickly confirmed.
Those familiar with the original already know what the second season of the Netflix live-action series on One Piece is about. The Straw Hats continue their journey, land on the Grand Line and meet the first villains of the Baroque Company. The company has less honorable business in mind, but plans to take over an entire country.

The employees of the Baroque company are wonderfully weird, as is typical for One Piece. Now Netflix has finally announced the first batch of actors and actresses who will lend their faces to the anime characters.
David Dastmalchian (The Dark Knight, Dune, Blade Runner 2049) plays the wax man Mr. 3, who plays a major role in Little Garden. Jazzara Jaslyn (Warrior, Lioness), on the other hand, plays Miss Valentine, who can adjust her weight at will.
The actor Camrus Johnson (Quiz Lady, Batwoman) takes on the role of the booger bomber Mr. 5, and Mr. 9, who only appears briefly in the anime, is played by Daniel Lasker (The Signal, Abraham Lincoln).
If you look at the pictures of the actors and actresses, you can definitely see a resemblance to their role models. The first season already shone with mostly good castings made up of relatively unknown people, so we probably don’t have to worry about finding the right cast.
Much more exciting, however, is the question of when season 2 of One Piece will set sail. There is currently no exact information on the start date; the team wants to take their time. Until then, you can watch Zeno and Dennis’s talk again. Our two One Piece fans have analyzed season 1 in detail together.
