OnePlus was the latest company to join the tablet party last year.
Even though the OnePlus Pad was pretty impressive, its successor would probably never be far away. A new device, known as the OnePlus Pad Pro, is launching in China, but it might be renamed the Pad 2.
If true, OnePlus’ claims that it’s “the most powerful Android tablet” raise questions about its potential specs and pricing.
Find out everything we currently know about it below.
When will the OnePlus Pad 2 be released?
OnePlus teased the Pad Pro on Weibo, indicating an upcoming release in China on June 27. This is the first tablet launch in this category by OnePlus in the region.
As a reminder, the OnePlus Pad was announced on February 7, 2023, and then released worldwide on May 8, 2023. Given its availability in the United States, the new model could debut outside of China under the name of OnePlus Pad 2 to avoid any confusion.
How much will the OnePlus Pad 2 cost?
Although official pricing details are not yet available, the OnePlus Pad’s competitive pricing suggests a similar approach for the new model.
For the price of $499/£449, the current version offers impressive specs, leading to speculation that the Pad Pro will follow suit with a value-oriented price point.
However, the price could also increase, especially if OnePlus opts for the latest and greatest chipset.
What specifications and features will the OnePlus Pad 2 have?
Assuming the OnePlus Pad Pro is renamed the Pad 2 in the West, we’ll know a lot more soon. In the meantime, the rumors paint a compelling picture of what to expect.
Design and display
A recent leak from Digital Chat Station reveals real images of the alleged OnePlus Pad Pro. The images suggest that the design of the new tablet is very similar to the original OnePlus Pad.

However, it appears that the screen will remain an LCD panel. Although the original OnePlus Pad’s 11.61-inch LCD screen stands out for its price, with Dolby Vision support and a 144Hz refresh rate, an OLED screen would be more desirable for multimedia performance superior.
Performance
The OnePlus Pad is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9000 paired with 8/12 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage.
According to the recent teaser image shared by OnePlus on Weibo, the Pad Pro will be the most powerful Android tablet, hinting at the inclusion of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This would be in line with a Geekbench 6 listing named ‘OnePlus OPD2404, considered to be being the OnePlus Pad Pro.

The listing claims that the tablet will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The tested unit, running Android 14 with 8GB of RAM, scored 2,103 in single-core and 6,297 in multi-core, although performance may improve in the retail version.
Additionally, in April, leaker Max Jambor also claimed that the OnePlus Pad Pro would feature the 8 Gen 3 chipset.
However, the Dimensity 9300+ is also a likely contender, being considered the most powerful Android chipset currently. OnePlus could opt for this to balance performance and cost, especially since the original Pad also used a MediaTek chipset (Dimensity 9000).
We don’t know anything about its battery and cameras, so we assume they will stay the same for now. As a reminder, the OnePlus Pad sports a 9,510 mAh battery and two cameras: a 13 MP rear shooter and an 8 MP selfie camera.

Regardless, the OnePlus Pad Pro is poised to become a major player in the market. With claims to be the most powerful Android tablet, it should attract a lot of attention.
