Thiollier and St. Trina are NPCs that you meet at the Three-Path Cross Site of Grace early in Fire ring‘S Shadow of the Earth Tree Additional content.
At first, Thiollier is merely a merchant of poison-related items, but his full story—and that of St. Trina—will unfold over the rest of your time in the Shadow Realm.
Our Fire ring The DLC guide will guide you through where to find Thiollier and St. Trinaand all the steps you need to take to complete their questline.
Locations Thiollier and St. Trina
You will first meet Thiollier near the Pillar Way Cross, Place of Grace in the Gravesite level. You can reach him there before tackling Castle Ensis.
Later, after entering Shadow Keep, you can find St. Trina on the Cerulean Coast, where Garden of Deep Purple, Place of Graceand Thiollier will move there to be with her.
First meeting with Thiollier in Graveyard Plain
There is no rush to find Thiollier in its original location. Pillar Way Cross, Place of Gracebut since his questline overlaps with Moore’s, it’s probably best to get this first encounter done early before things get complicated. You can get there before tackling Castle Ensis by crossing the Ellac Greatbridge and then simply turning right at the Soldiers’ Camp.
When you reach the Pillar Path Cross Site of Grace and Miquell’s Cross, talk to Thiollier and go through his dialogue.
Check in with Moore after meeting Thiollier
After you have had your first conversation with Thiollier, go back to the Main Gate Cross Site of Grace in front of Belurat. Report to Moore and talk to him. He will give you some Black syrup for Thiollier.
Go to the Pillar Path Cross Site of Grace to add the black syrup and then Ask for the black syrup. Choose I am tired of life next, and Thiollier will give you Thiollier’s Brew. This is an item that you can use with the Priestess of the Dragon Communion in Igon’s quest line.
Break the great rune (and the spell)
Before you can make further progress, you must break a large rune that’s blocking your path. You probably haven’t even seen it yet, but it’s time to get it out of the way.
To break it, you must Approach Shadow Fortress. Just before you reach the entrance door, you will receive two messages – “Somewhere a large rune has broken…” And “And it also has a powerful charm.” These generally refer to Miquella and the NPCs you have met so far. In particular, with Thiollier and St. Trina, the large rune blocked a path that you must now take.
Reach the Stone Coffin Fissure and defeat the Putrescent Knight
At the very southern end of the Southern Shores, there is a fissure you can climb (fall down) into. This is your next stop. Below you will find the Fissure Site of Grace at the entrance to the Cerulean Coast and the Stone Coffin Fissure – this is where the rune we broke blocked your progress.
A little further you will see the Rotting Knight and unlock the Garden of Deep Purple, Place of Grace. Once you do that, you will be right near Saint Trina’s hideout.
Go into the tunnel next to the Garden of Deep Purple Site of Grace to meet St. Trina. She isn’t very talkative. Don’t do anything with her yet. Instead, leave and then report to Thiollier.
Inform Thiollier about the whereabouts of Saint Trina
Go back to the Pillar Path Cross Site of Grace and speak to Thiollier. Tell him where St. Trina isand he will move.
Drink the nectar
The next part of her quest line is a bit confusing (and dark). Go back to the Garden of Deep Purple and talk to Thiollier.
Ignore his warnings and speak to St. Trina. If you have the opportunity, choose Drink nectar. Just like Thiollier said, this will kill you instantly. But that’s the plan, so trust the process.
Appear again and again at the place of grace and then drink the nectar again and again – four times in a row – until you hear Saint Trina’s voice on the black screen before you respawn.
Defeat Thiollier
Once you have heard Saint Trina’s words, return and try to convey the message to Thiollier. It will take you two attempts and he will not be receptive.
Drink the nectar (and die) again. In the darkness you will hear some more of St. Trina.
When you come back to life, you will be attacked by Thiollier. Defeat him to get the Talisman “Smile of Saint Trina”.
Pass on the words of Saint Trina
Go into the cave and talk to Thiollier again. Drink the nectar again. Die again.
This time, if you come back to life and talk to him again, Thiollier will finally listen to you. Pass on the words of Saint Trina to him.
Burn the Seal Tree
The St. Trina and Thiollier questline will take a while to complete. You’ll need to complete Shadow Keep, traverse the Rauh Ruins, defeat Romina, Saint of the Bud in the Church of the Bud, and then finally use Messmer’s Kindling to burn the Seal Tree.
This will open the Tower of Shadow and teleport you to Enir-Ilim: Outer Wall of Mercy in Enir-Ilim. Before you explore too far, though, it’s time to stop by Thiollier one last time.
Talk to Thiollier
Go back to the Garden of Deep Purple and talk to Thiollier – he won’t have much to say. Drink St. Trina’s Nectar again, hear what she has to say now, then return to Thiollier.
He probably still has nothing to say, but this is a guaranteed way to summon him for…
Summon Thiollier to fight Leda and her allies
After crossing all of Enir-Ilim, you will come to a large arena where you will face Needle Knight Leda and her allies – Redmane Freyja, Dryleaf Dane, and possibly Sir Moore.
You can summon Thiollier and – if you have followed his quest line – Sir Ansbach to help you in battle.
Thiollier’s fight is not over yet.
Summon Thiollier for the final boss fight
After defeating Leda, make your way to the Divine Gate for the game’s final boss fight. Before you step through the fog wall, you’ll (possibly) see summoning tokens for your allies Ansbach and Thiollier.
No matter how the fight ends, rest at the new Gate of Divinity. After that, you will find Thiollier dead nearby, where you can pick up Thiollier’s hidden needle And Thiolliers Set of armaments. (Ansbach could also be here.)
Get the flower of Saint Trina
When the battle is over, return to the Garden of the Crimson Deep one last time. You will find that Saint Trina is also dead, but she has given you the Flower of Saint Trina (quite attractive) headgear.
