That is what happened with one of its main characters who, after so many years since it happened, this event continues to traumatize all the followers of the series. The curious thing behind this fact is that could have happened in a totally different way if the original idea that its creator, Robert Kirkman, had in mind had been followed through with.
From here on there are spoilers related to The Walking Dead
To put ourselves in context, we have to go back a few years, to October 2016, which was when the first episode of the seventh season of The Walking Deadwhich is considered one of the best of the entire AMC series. This is because in this episode they witnessed The deaths of Abraham and Glennthe latter being totally devastating for viewers.
And it is no wonder, because Glenn was one of the protagonists and the most beloved characters of all. In addition, his death was not a simple gunshot or something halfway fast. Instead we saw how Negan, the leader of The Saviors, He murdered him in an extremely violent manner with Lucille, her baseball bat surrounded by barbed wire, smashing her head into the ground, turning her into mincemeat and… well, you can imagine the result.
Of course, the series did not skimp on details, just like in issue 100 of the comic, in which this tragic event also occurred. Nevertheless, Glenn’s fate was to be very differentbecause Robert Kirkman wanted killed him in number 75as it seemed like an important number to offer all readers an event they would never forget.
So, the original idea is that Glenn was not going to die at the hands of Negan. In this issue what happens is that Rick confronts Pete Anderson, believing that the latter is abusing his wife and son, which causes the fight to become so tense and violent that Pete ends up accidentally killing Regina with his knife. Monroe, the wife of Douglas Monroe, the leader of Alexandria.
Well, Kirkman’s idea was that Regina’s place was taken by Glenn. It is not clear whether Glenn would have died in the same way or not, but the author was very clear that Pete should have been Glenn’s real killer. In the end, he did not dare to do it, although it is not very clear what made him back off, but what is undeniable is that Glenn’s fate was sealed and his days were numbered.
