With its next-gen version, The Witcher 3 had already received a very nice graphical facelift. But with this popular feature, there will soon be a new dimension in this regard.
Despite its release in 2015, The Witcher 3 has nothing to be ashamed of from a graphical and technical perspective compared to newer games. Part of the reason for this is the next-gen update that brings it up to date on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. But the PC version may go even further with the upcoming introduction of a very popular feature on that platform.
The Witcher 3 will soon be even more next-gen than ever before
As with Cyberpunk 2077 and so many other titles, The Witcher 3 can count on the love of the community to stay fresh despite being nine years old. Even though CD Projekt RED’s official next-gen update has already done a lot of good, it is thanks to the work of modders that the Polish studio’s masterpiece can completely outshine much newer games in comparison. One of the most popular mods in this sense is HD revised project by Halk Hogan. He spent months reworking absolutely every texture in the game to give them a truly next-gen look and feel.
His passionate hard work is clearly nearing completion, as the modder announces that the highly anticipated The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project Next-Gen will be released in its final version later this year. In the meantime, Halk Hogan has shared the video below to show us the pretty graphical punch that’s coming. A gigantic task that commands respect, and is being carried out by a single person.
Since May 21, the life of The Witcher 3 modders has also been made much easier. The long-desired official mod editor called REDKit has arrived at this time. This provides aspiring developers with full access to game resources. We very quickly saw very promising first drafts in this direction. This is especially true with regard to the start of an unofficial remake of the first work, while waiting for the official version on Unreal Engine 5 at a still undetermined date. Also a good way to wait for a certain and closely watched The Witcher 4, also developed on the robust Epic Games engine.
