We are about to meet the first month after the presentation of Apple Intelligence. Our colleague Pedro Aznar from Applesfera was able to try it out in person at Apple Park and his first impressions were impressive. Apple Intelligence is all about one of the innovations of the Apple decade next to AirPods or Apple Watch.
It’s aboutanother big launch under the hand of Tim Cook. To share your thoughts on AI and how it will change the way we work and play with Apple devices, The company’s CEO had a meeting with the Washington Post in which they spoke at length about Apple Intelligence with exclusive statements in said interview.
What we will gain by using Apple Intelligence
Tim Cook begins the interview by explaining how Apple Intelligence will benefit Apple users. It stands out above all improved efficiency and time savings. We will have a lot of this help thanks to Siri and the ability to manage more complex conversations and multitask with a single request. He also likes the idea of being able to have excellent email supportbecause with a single click you can create a more professional or relaxed email.
Privacy and partnership with OpenAI and other future platforms
Privacy is the other important pillar of Apple Intelligence. Tim Cook points out that it has cost a lot of energy carry out the Big Data processing that AI needs with a result generated on the device itself. Additionally, without the power of Apple Silicon, it would not have been possible to create the Apple’s powerful cloud server to support more complex query fragments. It’s something unique in the industry and he says he doesn’t think any other company can achieve something like it.
When the interviewer asked about the partnership between Apple and OpenAI, Tim Cook acknowledged that ChatGPT it is currently the leader in information and that’s why they wanted to integrate it into the system somehow. On the other hand, he suggests in his remarks that even more models will arrive in the future.
At OpenAI they are pioneers in this field and today they have the best model. I also believe that our customers want access to global information from time to time. So we consider everything and everyone. It is obvious that we are not forever tied to one option. We also integrate other platforms. But they are the first, and I think today it’s because they are the best.
Does Tim Cook have full confidence in Aplpe Intelligence?
This is where the most complicated part of the interview came in. Tim Cook is asked about his Confidence in Apple Intelligence in reference to failures or “hallucinations” that other companies like Google or Microsoft have had. Tim Cook is frank and sincere in his response.
I’m not 100% sure but we’ve done everything we can. I’m sure the results will be very high quality. But I would say in all honesty it’s less than 100%.
Tim Cook is excited about the potential of Apple Intelligence and AI in general to improve human life. Of course, he also points out that you have to be vigilant and have adequate regulations on this subject.
The Marketing Behind the Apple Intelligence Name
In a more relaxed tone, Tim Cook discusses the choice of the name Apple Intelligence and its abbreviation AI. For him, it was the most logical choice and there is no attempt to “trample” the AI concept behind it. Just like there is Apple Pay and Apple Watch, now there is Apple Intelligence.
Apple Intelligence appears to be the perfect combination of efficiency, pleasure and confidentiality. We are I can’t wait to discover and try Apple Intelligence on our devices. Although its launch in the European Union and in Spanish could be delayed until 2025, the English version of Apple Intelligence will arrive in a few months to improve the way we work and communicate.
