Out of the blue, this popular Dragon Ball game gets an update with completely free and new content. It’s always a joy to discover.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot released in January 2020 and offered a different take on traditional anime fighting games. Instead of focusing solely on fast-paced battles, Kakarot introduced role-playing elements that allow players to upgrade their characters, harvest resources, and complete side quests in addition to the main story. And the game just received a surprise update.
Dragon Ball Z Kakarot Updates
Bandai Namco recently surprised fans of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot with the quiet addition of a new side mission called Legendary Super Satan. In this mission, Mr. Satan, also known as Hercules, tries to become a Super Saiyan to impress his daughter. He even goes so far as to dye his hair blonde, a humorous nod to the famous Saiyan transformations.
Although this new quest is light and fun, it could hint at more ambitious plans for the game’s future, and this mission could give a taste of what’s to come. The name of the quest, Legendary Super Satan, seems to be reminiscent of Legendary Super Saiyan, a direct reference to Broly, an iconic character from Dragon Ball Z.
So far, the DLC for Kakarot has covered major storylines in the series, such as Battle of Gods, Resurrection “F,” and the story of Bardock, Goku’s father. The recently added mission may suggest that Broly is a central character that hasn’t been explored yet, and Kakarot could soon make an appearance, reigniting fan interest in the game.
Interestingly, this mission appeared unexpectedly, hinting at a strategy by Bandai Namco to keep players engaged. By subtly adding content, the publisher could set the stage for bigger announcements. This approach could work well, as it piques fans’ curiosity and gets them speculating about the next steps in the game’s development.
