The production of Daredevil Born Again, the reboot that will be available on Disney+, wants to surprise viewers of the original Netflix series and brings with it big changes.
The new Daredevil Born Again series is both anticipated and feared, because there is already a precedent. After the disaster of the film starring Ben Affleck, the SVOD platform Netflix offered a very high-quality television show. When it was canceled, it was a big, cold shower. Since then, Disney+ has brought back the former actors and wants to change everything, but without betraying its early fans. A balancing act that builds on the past while still setting its own direction.
A new twist for the Daredevil Born Again series
“It’s a very difficult balance to find. If you’re going to remake a show and call it season 1, you have to do what people liked the first time around, even if the original was a hit with fans. But you also have to find good reasons to reboot the show. So some things have to change a little bit.” said Charlie Cox, who will reprise his leading role in Daredevil Born Again.
How do you do “what people liked the first time”? By asking the same actors to recreate their characters. The devil’s allies and enemies from Hell’s Kitchen will all be back in Daredevil Born Again, like the Punisher or Wilson Fisk. The place also called Le Caïd will of course have a central place. But compared to the Netflix production, the Disney+ series will change everything by bringing in particular a new political turning point after Fisk announced his candidacy for mayor of New York in the Marvel show Echo. According to Brad Winderbaum, head of small screen programming at Marvel, Daredevil Born Again is somewhere even comparable to X-Men 97.
Daredevil is incredible and in some ways it feels like X-Men 97. Because it revives something that fans love, but with a new direction. These characters have grown up, the universe is different than it once was. Things have changed and so has society. Matt [Murdock] and Wilson [Fisk] have changed. Their characters will be in conflict in ways we’ve never seen before. It’s not just about killing each other anymore. There’s a whole political game going on.

The development of the characters is therefore described as very pronounced, as is that of the world in which they live. From a tonal point of view, Daredevil Born Again should not ignore violence, both physical and psychological. See you in March 2025 on Disney+.
