Cities Skylines 2 offers us a content update to balance out the busy months of 2024. Here’s what we can learn about it.

After a turbulent launch, Cities: Skylines 2 is receiving a significant update to improve the gaming experience. Developer Colossal Order, in collaboration with publisher Paradox Interactive, has announced the release of the first Detailer’s Patch. Free addition of new content. Story of forgiveness.

A chaotic start for Cities Skylines 2

The initial launch of Cities: Skylines 2 was marked by criticism over poor performance and missing features. Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order quickly found themselves faced with player frustration. To remedy the situation, Colossal Order has promised to focus on free updates rather than rushing paid DLCs in an effort to regain the community’s trust.

The Detailer’s Patch introduces numerous improvements and additions to the game, including:

  • Adaptable roundabouts and 8 new roundabout decorations
  • New investment instruments for trees, with age selection
  • Surface tools with different textures: concrete, grass, cobblestone, sand and tiles
  • 27 new service building variantsincluding a small water tower, a small medical clinic and a municipal fire station
  • New educational buildingsPolice and public transport
  • 5 new city parks and 6 new parking spaces
  • 4 new vehicles : a North American garbage truck. A North American snow plow, a North American passenger train and a European freight locomotive

Colossal Order seems to be keeping its promises with this update, showing its commitment to improving the base of the game before offering additional paid content. The variety and amount of new elements added demonstrate a significant effort to meet player expectations.

Although the date of the next update has not yet been set, it is expected to be available in July after a summer break. Players can therefore expect new improvements and content in August, continuing Colossal Order’s efforts to reach the expected quality.
