The headphones are, without a doubt, one of the most important accessories for our cell phones. In fact, I would dare to say that it is the most indispensable accessory, at least for many users. After buying good Bluetooth headphones, we surely want to make the most of them to listen to music and any type of content with our mobile phones.
In the case of Xiaomi phones, these devices have a feature enabled by default that is designed to give us a more balanced experience when listening to music, but in many cases This can also reduce the potential of our headphones and above all reduce the volume they can offer. Therefore, it is best to deactivate this option and have full control over the volume of our headphones when we listen to music.
Change this setting to prevent your phone from changing your headphone volume
The function in question is designed to maintain the same maximum volume level in all applications and throughout headphone sound playback. In this way, the mobile imposes a constant limit for the volumewith the intention of offering a uniform experience, regardless of whether we are listening to music or watching a streaming series, for example.
They do this through software, applying something that in the audio world is known as “normalization” of the sound. Normalization can be more or less aggressive depending on the product. In my tests with Xiaomi phones, having this function active the maximum volume of my headphones decreases noticeably relative to when the function is not active.
In the worst case, normalization can harm the dynamic range of the sound of what we are playing, that is, the range between high and low sounds, which is an important part of music production. This does not necessarily happen all the time with the function active on Xiaomi phones, but What happens is that the maximum volume of the headset is limited by the mobile. Therefore, we will disable this setting by following these steps:
- Turn on the headphones (or at least take them out of the box, if they are in-ear headphones)
- We access the menu Setting
- Then we go to the section Bluetooth
- Then we press our headphones
- In the headset settings menu, we deactivate the option “Maintain a constant volume“
And that’s it. In this way, the mobile phone will no longer limit the volume of our headphones, so we can enjoy its full potential. But it is important to remember that It is not recommended to listen to music at a very high volume.as this can be harmful to the health of our ears. The important thing about disabling this setting is that the mobile phone does not limit our headphones, but rather that we ourselves have more precise control of the volume without artificial limits.
