ESO’s latest expansion is called Gold Road and invites us to rediscover ancient locations known to the most hardcore fans.
Keeping an MMO running is not an easy task. It takes time, dedication, and create content on a recurring basis so that the community does not lose interest. Zenimax is already very used to creating content for a saga that has been fueling its fans’ role-playing desires for years, and they’re back at it with The content is not lacking in details, changes and new locations. If you want to embark on new adventures, alone or with friends, don’t miss out on all it has to offer. Gold Road, the new content offered by The Elder Scroll Online.
Death before life
Before we begin, it is worth mentioning that Gold Road can be played without having previously enjoyed the previous content released for The Elder Scrolls Online. Of course, for the first time, this new content is a direct sequel to Necromthe latest DLC released for this epic MMO. Can you play this latest expansion without having set foot in Necrom? Of course you can, even if If you want to immerse yourself further in traditions And regarding the plot, we recommend you start with the penultimate chapter of the saga.
That said, this time we will have to face a new Daedric princess who disrupts the tranquility that overflows into the Western Forest. This place will surely be very familiar to those who have visited it. Oversight
Well, I digress. Our hero is not given a guided tour of these places, but instead we will be sent to investigate the appearance of this princess who came from nowhere. Mainly because he is dedicated to Open portals throughout this new realm, bringing with them waves and waves of monsters and beasts to our astral plane.
The Magic Factories
Although at first there is a strong investigative nature that will make us aware of the dangers we face, later everything will be governed by a combat system that will be very familiar to us. The only thing that has changed significantly is notary’s office, one of the great attractions of TESO: Gold Road. With this new talent, we will be able to customize our magic attacks by giving them new effects that help us in combat. We can put poison in a magic projectile, lower the enemy’s defense when we attack with fire, and many other combinations that we will achieve… if we find the corresponding grimoires.
No one said it was easy, and if you want to complete all the possible combinations, you’ll first have to find every grimoire. A complex task that, besides time, will also cost us a good amount of money. Wow, this is not something that is within the reach of the most beginners in these fields, and only those who really enjoyed ESO will benefit from it.
Same fights, same rules
Other than that addition… there’s not much else to be found in Gold Road. Yes, new locations and spell customization, but basically it’s a very continuous continuation (forgive the redundancy). The way you start with the DLC, the type of missions… There isn’t a big enough jump in any section to make it stand out as a different, distinct or innovative DLC.
The good thing about this MMO is that You don’t need to be an expert to get started on this adventure.. Not even if you re-enter Gold Road, although here I advise you to go in a group to fend off the most dangerous enemies.
Although to play in a group, there is nothing better than delving into content that goes beyond the main story. We will have raids and massive battles against huge final enemies with up to 12 warriors join forces against evil. These massive battles will take place in the Shimmering Arena, and while the fights are tough, the rewards will be very juicy.
A yellow brick road
Its graphic section has those lights and darks that can be found in many MMOs. As I said before, Gold Road follows a continuous path, and this is also reflected in its visual style. Or at least, in the animations of the protagonists, which are still crude and with attacks that do not reflect the strength that they should have. On the other hand, I was pleasantly surprised by the appearance of the landscapes we are going to travel through, with chromatic changes ranging from the blues of the dungeons, to the greens of the forests, to the yellows of some characteristic environments of Oblivion, which give this DLC the nickname of “golden path”.
The interface is also a bit outdated. Although it is true that at this stage of the game, with all the development work behind it, it is difficult to do a facelift, Zenimax A new mission system, a new character status and, eventually, a menu more in line with the current era are to be considered. Moreover, we will continue to have the texts in our language, even if a sentence “escapes” in English. What there is nothing to complain about is its sound part, always as charismatic and spectacular.
Lovers of The Elder Scrolls Online have good reasons to revisit the huge universe created by Zenimax. This new downloadable content offers a long campaign (about 30 hours) that invites us to explore the places of the Western Forest. The most striking thing about this DLC is the notary, with which we can customize our spells. Although it will not be easy or free, since we will have to find grimoires scattered in different places and pay a good sum of gold to customize our magic.
This almost makes it an element for recurring users of the game, although apart from that, anyone can enter and enjoy the new adventure that revolves around the Daedra princess. If we combine the campaign with good content post-end and the raids multiplayer, we’ll have roleplaying for a while. We may be missing a facelift in both the interface and the animations, which seem somewhat outdated, but we understand that this is difficult to tackle when there is so much content released.
