Respawn Entertainment has announced a fundamental overhaul of the Battle Pass system in Apex Legends – including new pricing.
In a blog post, the developers at Respawn Entertainment, together with publisher Electronic Arts, announced a fundamental overhaul of the current Battle Pass system in the long-running Battle Royale Apex Legends. In the future, the in-game currency used up to now will be dropped and payment will be made with real money.
The decision to leave Apex Coins (AC) behind and instead rely on real money was not an easy one. In this regard, the blog post states: “Cost is another aspect that we have re-evaluated. To improve value going forward, each Premium Battle Pass will cost EUR 9.99 and include the enhanced rewards. The decision to switch from AC to real currency was not an easy one, but it allows us to reduce the price of Premium+ for our community. The new Premium+ Battle Pass is EUR 19.99 and offers additional value, even though it costs 29 percent less than the discontinued Premium Battle Pass bundle for 2,800 AC. And what happens if you buy the Battle Pass and then unlock it? Well, you get 1,000 AC back.”
In addition to the Premium and Premium+ options, there will continue to be a free path in the Battle Pass as usual. The change will come into effect with Season 22; then there will only be 60 levels per Battle Pass instead of the previous 110. In return, there will no longer be just one Battle Pass per season, but one per split.
You can see how the individual levels of the Battle Pass are designed in detail in the graphic above. You can find further details and information in the mentioned blog entrywhich goes into detail about the topic and the changes.
