Best Lycaon Build
We have more detailed explanations and alternative choices below, but at a glance, here’s what we consider to be the best Lycaon build in Zenless Zone Zero:
- Best weapon: Rank S The Retained.
- Best Training Disc Set:4 pieces Shockstar Disco and 2 pieces Swing Jazz.
- Best team:Ellen and Soukaku.
How to play Lycaon
The key with Lycaon is to hold his basic attack to perform a charged attackthen hold the Basic Attack button again to complete his Charge Attack combo. An easy way to time this is to hold the Basic Attack button until you see Lycaon’s leg hanging in the air, then hold the Basic Attack button again.
You want to perform this combo to deal ice damage and activate Lycaon’s primary passive, which increases the stun damage taken by enemies. Stunning enemies is your main goal with Lycaon, as it allows you to switch to your main DPS to deal as much damage as possible before the stun duration ends.
You also want Use Lycaon’s EX Special Attack or Support Follow-up as often as possibleas it decreases the ice resistance of targeted enemies for 30 seconds when Lycaon successfully hits them. A very useful and long lasting buff, perfect for your ice teams, or if you want Lycaon to play a more prominent attacking role.
do not forget to hold down the EX special attack button to strengthen its effects.
Lycaon’s Best Teams
Lycaon’s best team is with Ellen and Soukakuwhich happens to be one of the best Zenless Zone Zero teams overall. The team is so good because Lycaon is the best and fastest at stunning enemies (and has resistance to Jagged Ice), Soukaku is a fantastic ice support thanks to the huge attack buff she gives to the character you switch to after using her Fly the Flag ability, and Ellen is the strongest attack character in the game, as of this writing. Ellen and Lycaon also get an extra buff, due to being on the same faction.
All is not lost if you don’t have this ideal team, however, since Lycaon is so good, you can fit him into almost any other team, thanks to his quick stun and stun abilities. Just keep in mind that he is best used on ice teams or teams with an ice attack character.
That said, while you can use Lycaon with any attacker, pairing him with Corin can give you a slight advantage in certain situations, thanks to their faction bonuses. The same logic applies when choosing Rina if you need a support character other than Soukaku, as Rina is also in the same faction as Lycaon (and is also generally a fantastic support character).
Best Lycaon Player Discs
We believe that the Shockstar 4-piece discotheque is the best Driving Disc set for Lycaon in Zenless Zone Zero, as its 2 pieces increase impact and its 4 pieces deal 20% more stun on a primary target enemy – both very useful bonuses for stunned characters.
Alternatively, you can equip the Jazz swing in 4 pieces Driving Disc attached to Lycaon, as its 2 pieces increase energy regeneration, and its 4 pieces increase damage to all squad members for 12 seconds when Lycaon chains or ultimates. It’s a great general support set for your entire team, but overall we think Shockstar Disco benefits Lycaon the most (unless you have amazing substats on your Swing Jazz pieces and no other characters use them!)
We recommend using Swing Jazz in your 2-piece slots, however, to get that energy regeneration boost. You can also slot the 2-piece Polar metal place it here instead, if you want Lycaon to deal a bit more ice damage.
Lycaon’s Best Weapons
Rank S The Retainer is Lycaon’s best weapon in Zenless Zone Zero. It’s the best choice for him because it increases the stun and damage dealt by Lycaon’s basic attacks, which is what you want to do anyway, and it passively increases Lycaon’s impact and attack.
Rank S Gears of Hell is Lycaon’s next best option, as it also passively increases his impact and attack, while its main effect increases Lycaon’s energy regeneration when off the field and increases Lycaon’s impact when using an EX Special Attack, which can stack twice.
As for the A-rank options, we believe that the Precious fossilized core is generally the best option overall. It increases the damage done by Daze Lycaon when an enemy is above 50% HP, which is great for monsters, but keep in mind that its value decreases when fighting single-target or dual-target bosses with high HP.
If you don’t want to face this limitation, then Rank A Six shots is a good alternative for its increase in Lycaon’s daze when using an EX special attack. Rank A Steam oven This can be even better if you have enough energy regeneration for Lycaon, as for every 10 energy points accumulated, Lycaon’s impact is increased, stacking up to eight times. Once his energy is consumed, the bonus remains valid for an additional eight seconds.
If you haven’t gotten one of these options yet, then the only B-rank option that’s really worth it is the Whirling Arrow for its passive impact boost and stun increase.
Best wishes for the Lycaon building in Zenless Zone Zero!
