Shift 87: The new Daedalic horror turns you into an anomaly researcher

Anomaly, Daedalic, Horror, researcher, Shift, Turns

The last few years have been a great time for fans of horror games. There have been numerous horror gems in both the AAA and indie segments, and Daedalic also wants a piece of the pie. With Shift 87, the Hamburg-based company is releasing a title from a German studio in just under two weeks.

With Shift 87, the NORN Corporation is offering you an interesting job. Your tasks are to report anomalies and observe horrors. A total of 66 anomalies are waiting to be discovered by you, about half of which are supposed to be fairly obvious, while the other 50 percent are only discovered by the most capable employees.

Maybe we should explain what exactly you can expect on the gameplay side, because the job description only gives a limited indication of how the first-person horror game is played. The German-based development studio Pixelsplit sends you through various levels that you first have to memorize well.

Then the real hunt for anomalies and other strange phenomena begins, as you are sent through areas that look similar. Here you look for deviations and report them using a special device that is vaguely reminiscent of a walkie-talkie. False reports lead to the sequence being reset, and your working day only ends when you have checked all the scenes and reported anything unusual.

According to the developers, the game takes a relatively short amount of time; your tasks should be completed in about two to three hours. If you have found all the anomalies, there is even an alternative ending.

Shift 87 will be released on July 23, 2024. However, there is one restriction when it comes to starting work: you must use a PC via Steam as your work device.
