Dead Rising will make an unexpected return at the start of the school year. Capcom has pulled out all the stops for the occasion and still has some good news in store.
After Capcom Vancouver closed in 2018, you might have thought that the Dead Rising license was finally on ice. However, the publisher seems to still want to capitalize a little by lett ing early fans and a whole new audience relive the glory days of the most bizarre franchise in its catalog. The fathers of Resident Evil and Monster Hunter have clearly done a good job of hitting the nostalgic tone as it should.
Dead Rising Remaster will have music in its sleeve
In its time, the first Dead Rising was a true phenomenon. An Xbox 360 title capable of displaying hundreds of hungry zombies on the screen without batting an eyelid. A great achievement for the time, especially at a time when open worlds were not yet so popular. It is rather its crazy sides, its freedom of action and its large dose of second-degree that have built the reputation of the license. This origin s tory of Dead Rising will be rediscovered at the start of the school year in a version between a remake and a remaster. Revised character design, graphics and gameplay improvements, new engine… everything has been designed to make the game as fun as it was back then. And that will also happen through its music.
Dead Rising was also known for its licensed tracks that always set the mood, tracks that are generally cut from remasters and other releases due to copyrights and agreements that need to be renegotiated. Good news: Capcom has confirmed with VG247 that this famous licensed music will officially be back. However, some uncertainties still remain, as the publisher has not specified whether it will return in full or only a handful will be saved. Fans of Dead Rising from the very beginning can rest assured, however, their favorite songs should be there.
On the audio side, one thing is certain: Terence J. Rotolo, the original actor who played Frank West, will not return to the service, as he recently confirmed. The protagonist will change his voice to suit the occasion, without knowing who will do the voice. As a reminder, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be available on September 19 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
