The latest Starfield update may have disappointed more than one player. But the community is saving the game and certain bugs that still exist today.
Often referred to as the “Skyrim of space”, Starfield currently does not have the stature of its role model. Even if our dear Kikitoes were completely captivated by this space odyssey. What has actually frustrated players a lot in recent months are the decisions made, such as the introduction of the Creations platform, which in particular includes paid mods. The lack of news about the Shattered Space expansion is also not encouraging.
Fixed new issues in Starfield
The major patch 1.12.30 released in June helped Starfield. An update that brought new content with new stories and new interactions, bug fixes, better balancing and even improved performance with shorter loading times. Since this update, the Creation Kit for creating mods has also been available. So the community can let their imagination run wild and it has already started. But mods have another advantage, because they allow you to fix bugs that the Bethesda teams have not yet taken the time to fix.
Thanks to the Starfield Engine Fixes mod by developer LarannKiar, issues related to the game engine Creation Engine 2, which is also used for The Elder Scrolls 6, have been fixed. Here are the changes you can expect if you decide to install this mod. A community novelty that will do the game some good:
- Fixed the player’s simple facial expression after fast travel and when the spacesuit is hidden
- Fixed bugs that caused NPC faces to be distorted and their tattoos and other makeup to disappear after reloading a save
- Fixed helmet flashlight malfunction. This could be disabled if the player equips or unequips something with the hidden combination
- Fixed a bug that removed facial expressions of the player and nearby NPCs in photo mode.
It is not the most complete mod, but it also fixes some scripting issues. Starfield Engine fixes can be downloaded on Nexusmods for the PC version. But be careful, for it to work you also need to restore two other files: Starfield Script Extender and Address library for SFSE plugins.
