Even though I travel a lot during the year for work reasons, in the summer I enjoy intensive work days and days off for the classic summer holidays and short getaways with my colleagues. Except for trips where the logistics only consist of traveling by plane and with train prices, it is normal to choose to use the car for more flexibility and to save money. Moreover, traveling by car is no longer an odyssey like when my parents did it, looking at an old-fashioned map: with infotainment systems like Android Auto, the experience is much better.

Sometimes it’s someone’s vehicle, but usually we’re using mine and with multiple people in the car for hours and Android Auto on the screen, it seems like It is essential to change this setting and improve privacy.

Android Auto is very useful for trips in which you travel to a destination that you do not know and where the journey is long, since thanks to its compatible applications you have navigation applications so as not to get lost, other entertainment applications to listen to music and even watch DTT on the car screen while you rest in the parking lot and of course, stay informed with the main messaging applications. But the latter has a handicap: It depends on the setup, the chatterboxes find out everything.

Keep prying eyes off your messages: Change this Android Auto setting

WhatsApp messages are particularly dangerous, as it is the most used messaging app, and in my case also Telegram, where I chat with some of my best friends. My mother usually pays attention to what appears on the screen and I have friends whose eyes simply go blank when they see a notification, in order to avoid prying eyes among my loved ones (and if I put Blablacar, it’s the same again) and improve my privacy and intimacy, change an android setting.

Android Auto notifications are a very personal issue, in fact I have already explained to you how I configure them so as not to miss what is important and minimize distractions. So, you can activate sounds to receive an audible warning when someone writes to you, activate notifications for individual and group chats and finally show first line of conversation. This last option is criticism and is the one I normally have enabled, just to have at a glance an overview of why I am being spoken to (although depending on how the person expresses themselves, it might not even be that).

Where to find all these options? You will have to go to the mobile settings, search for “Android Auto” and once inside, scroll down to the notification block, where the critical option appears first and, if enabled, it is advisable to disable it for greater privacy.

Actually, this does not affect the mobile preview but rather the Google infotainment system and in any case, when the pop-up appears with the warning message, the ‘Press to hear it“In case you want the assistant to read it to us, if we feel the conversation can be heard by the rest of the people traveling with us.
