ININ Games brought us the digital edition of the third game in TAITO Bubble Bobble series — Parasol Stars: The Story of Bubble Bobble III. The game launched on the Switch eShop yesterday, July 11, 2024, and marks the first time the game has been ported to modern consoles.
This modern port of the 1991 classic has a lot going for it — it’s an important part of the game’s history preserved for a modern audience, and it has save states, rewinds, and visual enhancements. But most importantly, it will only cost you $9.99 / £8.99.
Although it is a sequel to Rainbow Island, Parasol Stars is actually more of a return to the gameplay of the original Bubble Bobble. And, instead of bubbles, Bubby and Bobby use umbrellas, which can block attacks, stun enemies, catch drops in stages and be used to float. Additionally, Parasol Stars can be played with 1 or 2 players just like the previous two games.
Parasol Stars is now available on Nintendo Switch. Will you jump over the rainbow for this one? Head down to the comments and let us know.
