Actor Anthony Starr has spoken about the fourth season of “The Boys” and the following season, which will be the last. Just like the fans, the Homelander interpreter is not ready to say goodbye to the series.

A gigantic job

While the fourth season of “The Boys” is in full swing on Prime Video, actor Anthony Starr recently spoke in an interview with IGN. The opportunity for the interpreter of ‘Homelander’ to pay tribute to all those involved in this new season, which represents a huge investment for all teams.

We’ve worked so hard on this fourth season on every level, from the caterers to everyone who works in the production office to the actors, the leads, the producers, the directors… everyone has put in their full commitment, so it’s great to see some kind of amorphous creature emerge and go out into the world this season.

With this fourth season, it’s also time to address the end of the series. Showrunner Eric Kripke had hinted that he didn’t know when the series would end before going back on his statements and confirming that season 5 would be the last. After working on the series for six years, Anthony Starr seems to be having trouble thinking about that ending.

When I think about it, I get very sad. It’s been such a long journey with the show. We started before COVID and then we released season 2 during COVID. We did all the promotion for the show while isolating at home and then all of a sudden we came back. We shot during the pandemic. It’s been such a journey with all these people that (the end) is going to be really sad. It’s going to be a sad day to hang up the spandex.

If he imagines that he is sad about saying goodbye to the series, the actor is also very clear and assures that he wants to end “on a positive note”.

I’m very conscious that I want us to end on a very strong and positive note. I don’t want us to become that show that went on one season too long and then stalled. On behalf of everyone who works on the show, I think we deserve to end with our heads held high, without feeling like we should have stopped sooner or that we abused (the fans’) hospitality, so to speak. I think it will be the right time, but it will also be difficult to leave.

Even though viewers will soon have to say goodbye to the main series, The Boys universe has certainly not said its last word. The main series already has two spin-offs – the animated series Diabolical and Gen V, the second season of which is currently in development – while others are still in the works. There is no doubt that Excellent will entertain us for a few more years.
