If you like Alien, then here’s great news for you. There’s serious movement on certain projects and the future looks very bright for the license.
In addition to Alien: Romulus, which is due to be released on August 14, the Alien license still has many surprises in store. In particular, a series that will allow us to learn more about the universe, with the action taking place shortly before the events of Romulus. In summary, the outlook is good, especially since there is good news to report.
The Alien series on the right track
After numerous delays due to strikes and other logistical challenges, the highly anticipated series Alien, directed by Noah Hawley for FX, has finally wrapped up filming in Thailand. This conclusion marks the end of a tumultuous production process that lasted 15 months, on and off, although lead actress Sydney Chandler mentioned that she filmed for six months.
Members of the crew shared photos from the wrap party on social media, including posts from Chandler and cinematographer Dana Gonzales confirming the end of filming. The festivities revealed some interesting details about the series, including t-shirts bearing the logo of the Prodigy Corporation, a key entity in the upcoming storyline. Also visible was a banner depicting a Xenomorph moving through a spaceship corridor (possibly concept art).
The series’ action will be set in the year 2092, about a year before the events of Prometheus. It will adopt a retro-futuristic aesthetic reminiscent of the style of the original Alien film, rather than the clean, modern look of Prometheus. This stylistic choice could appeal to early fans by offering them a more familiar atmosphere.
The cast of the series includes Alex Lawther (The End of the F***ing World), Samuel Blenkin (The Witcher), Essie Davis (The Babadook), Adarsh Gourav (The White Tiger), Kit Young (Shadow and Bone), Timothy Olyphant (Justified) and David Rysdahl (No Exit). Their participation promises to bring to life a rich and captivating story, full of suspense and thrills.
This news comes at just the right time, as the film Alien: Romulus is set to hit theaters next month. For fans of the Alien universe, the wait is doubly exhausting, between the excitement of discovering the new series on FX next year and the anticipation of enjoying the next film.
