When Samsung introduced the new Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, the company also announced A 6.1.1 user interfacean update that may seem minor, but which actually includes multiple changes and new functions, some related to artificial intelligence. But not everything is AI in the new version of One UI.
In addition to the new auto-zoom and the ability to edit your photos with generative AI, One UI 6.1.1 will also add important security improvements: this version includes more protection against attacks and malicious apps, such as the ability to block downloading of attachments and previewing of web links by default
This is what changes in One UI 6.1.1 for more user security
With the arrival of One UI 6.0, Samsung has introduced a new series of tools called “Automatic locking“. When enabled, it applies certain restrictions to the system for greater security, such as blocking the download of applications from unauthorized sources and blocking commands sent via USB cable, among others.
Auto Lock will evolve and add greater protection to the system, thanks to a new section of this tool called “Maximum restriction“, as discovered by Android Authority.
These new restrictions go further and not only block the ability to download apps from unknown sources, but also will analyze the applications installed on the mobile
By activating the maximum restriction, the system will also block the activation of system administration applications (i.e. applications and tools that can modify or affect the operation and behavior of our device), will block the use of shared image albums and delete location data when sharing photos.
These measures protect the user, for example, from receiving invitations to shared albums from unknown people (or from impersonating someone they know), and also prevent the accidental sharing of sensitive data such as location or private images.
Last but not least, One UI 6.1.1’s new security tools also allow Block automatic downloading of attachments in text messages and block preview of images and links to web pages, to avoid accessing malicious web pages.
One UI 6.1.1 will be available for all compatible devices starting next August. According to Samsung, the maximum restriction level of auto-lock is designed to “add more protection for people who need more security, even if it limits some functions of their devices.” If you want configure auto lockyou can do this on any Samsung Galaxy with One UI version 6.0 or higher in the Security & Privacy section of the Settings menu.
