The best ways to generate acid in Once Human

acid, generate, Human, my city, ways

At first glance you wouldn’t notice it, but the open-world survival game Once human has a robust weapon crafting and customization system. Let’s face it: a simple baseball bat or machete won’t get you through the apocalypse.

To kill alien creatures, you need something more sophisticated, like a fully automatic submachine gun or a light machine gun. To get one of these, you need some gunpowder. And for Once humanGunpowder, you need to get acid. It’s a never-ending cycle where you’ll be mining resource nodes well into the endgame.

To make your journey easier, here’s how to get acid using a variety of methods, including a passive farming solution that allows for zero-intervention farming after the initial setup!

Where to get acid in the early game

You can’t mine large amounts of acid until late in the game. By then, you’ll have unlocked various technologies that allow you to filter acid from contaminated water, but more on that later.

At the beginning of the game, the best way to get acid is by killing enemies. Several enemy types in lower level zones drop acid, including:

  • Rodents
  • Charred madman
  • Light

You’re most likely to encounter a Gnawer or Charred Maniac, with the former always dropping a handful of acid upon death.

Alternatively, you can collect scrap from crates, trash cans, and enemies to bring back to the base. Once you have unlocked and built a dismantling bench, stuff all your unwanted

objects in it and let it break everything down into usable materials. One such material is acid!

Acid cultivation is not always a practical activity. Once human allows you to passively break down acids. To do this, you first need to find contaminated areas.

Several zones in the game are marked as polluted, varying in extent and accessibility. Some possible locations can be found near:

  • Grey water storage
  • Lonely wolf
  • Blackfur

Typically, you need to be around level 20 before it makes sense to venture into a polluted zone. Most of the technology you need to mine acid in polluted areas requires level four and five memetics.

To start passive acid farming, you need to unlock the following items:

  • water pump
  • Reverse osmosis cleaner
  • Fermentation barrels (brewing barrels)

First, place your water pump in dirty water and then turn the unit on to ensure it can supply water to the reverse osmosis purification equipment. Impure acid is created during this process.

Unfortunately, impure acid is not good enough to make gunpowder and ammunition. You have to refine the impure acid using fermentation (brewing) barrels and purified water.

When all is said and done, you will have a semi-automatic process for acid extraction in Once human. It requires a bit of preparation – crafting and grinding – but it’s more than worth it when you play through endgame content with enough ammo to avert the apocalypse!
