When will new monsters be released in Monster Hunter Now?
New monsters as well as new story quests and weapon types are introduced into the game as part of a seasonal model along with a comprehensive update every quarter.
The newest monsters arrived on June 13, 2024 as part of the game’s Summer Update, with the first Elder Dragon confirmed in June. The next monster will be the game’s first Leviathan in July:
How have monsters been introduced in the game so far? The first seasonal update, Fulminations in the Frost, was released in December 2023 and introduced Radobaan, Banbaro, Barioth, and Zinogre. Then in March 2024, three new monsters were added – Odogaron, Tzitzi-Ya-Ku, and Devilijho. Khezu, Basarios, and Elder Dragon Kushala Daora were then introduced into the game in June 2024.
In addition to these major updates, there are Monsters that debut in eventslike Black Diablos during the “Diablos Invasion” in September 2023 and Pink Rathian in the “Rathian & Pink Rathian Week” in October 2023.
These subspecies are more powerful versions of Diablos and Rathians, but can be considered monsters in their own right, as they have their own armor and weapons. Initially, these monsters only appeared for a limited time, but have since become wild spawns once defeated as part of a seasonal storyline.
We can imagine future subspecies following a similar pattern: debuting for a limited time at a mid-season event and then appearing as spawns with the start of a new season a few months later.
For those who are expecting original monsters which was first published in Monster Hunter nowSo far, the roster consists of creatures that have appeared elsewhere in the series, but the developers have said they would “like to add unique monsters to the game in the future” – so maybe we can expect something at some point.
This isn’t the first Niantic game to contribute to the canon of a larger series — Pokemon Go introduced, for example Meltan and Melmetal – and it will be interesting to see what effects Monster Hunter now on the main series over time.
