First Meeting – Where to Find Moore
Moore is located on Grace’s siteMain Gate Cross” in Gravesite Plain, just before reaching Belurat, Tower Settlement. You can find its exact location on the map below:
When you first meet Moore, he is available as a simple merchant, selling the following items:
- 3x Runic Bow: 8000 runes
- 2x Anti-Spell Marinated Liver: 4000 runes
- 2x Fire-resistant marinated liver: 4000 runes
- 2x Lightning Resistant Marinated Liver: 4000 runes
- 2x Holyproof marinated liver: 4000 runes
- 1x Well marinated turtleneck: 2000 runes
- 8x Black Pyrefly: 1800 runes
- 10x Rada Fruits: 800 runes
- 8x Red flesh mushrooms: 1500 runes
- 6x White flesh mushrooms: 2000 runes
- 4x Amaryllis Sanguine: 1800 runes
- 5x Resin Knot: 1500 runes
- Arrow: 20 runes
- Big Arrow: 300 runes
- Bolt: 40 runes
- Ballista bolt: 300 runes
- Note: Sealed Spiritsprings: 1000 runes
Once you purchase an item from him, you will have the option to “Talk to Moore” to learn more about him. He will tell you that he enjoys finding various items for his fellow Miquella disciples, and it is clear that he has a particular affinity with Needle Knight Leda and the Brood of foragers.
Once you’ve spoken to Moore, you’ll also be able to speak to Ansbach to learn a bit more about him. He’ll reveal how Moore gets most of his items from the Forager Brood, and tell you that you should “mind your manners” when you encounter them, as they’re not your enemies (unlike almost everything else in this realm). You’ll encounter these characters all over the Shadowlands, but we don’t need to worry about that right now.
Once you’ve exhausted both characters’ dialogues, there’s not much left to do at this point. Feel free to leave and continue your journey through Belurat, the Tower Colony.
Second meeting
Once you have met Thiollier on the Site of Grace’Stations of the Cross on a Pillar“Near Ensis Castle in Gravesite Plain, you can return to Moore to get some additional dialogue from him.
Select ‘Talk to Moore” again and he will give you a bottle of Dark syrup to take to Thiollier.
Return to Thiollier and give him the item Black Syrup. Ironically, this item is not relevant to either Thiollier or Moore’s respective quests, but it will become important later if you decide to pursue the Dragon Communion Priestess quest instead.
Once you have done this, you can continue your journey to Scadu Altus and the Shadow Keep.
Moore and the Brood of Foragers
IMPORTANT: This is not a necessary part of Moore’s quest, but if you want to collect all of the Forager Brood Cookbooks in Shadow of the Erdtree, you must do so now before continuing the story.
There are a total of 7 Forager Brood Cookbooks to find in the Elden Ring DLC, but you can only get the seventh one from Moore, after collecting Cookbooks 1-6. If you fail to complete this step before your next encounter with Moore, you will not be able to obtain the Forager Brood Cookbook (7).
It is also possible to end Moore’s quest early at this point by killing the Forager Brood twice.. If you kill two Forager Brood (deliberately or accidentally), Moore will invade your world to fight you, in which case you will need to kill him as well to progress.
Third meeting
Moore’s quest will move on to the next stage once you receive the message “Somewhere, a great rune has broken…“. This will appear when you approach the Shadow Keep in Scadu Altus (either from the main entrance or from its church district on the eastern side of the Shadow Keep) or when entering Rauh’s base for the first time.
When you receive this message, you will need to return to all the NPCs in Shadow of the Erdtree, including Moore, as they will all have new things to say. Moore will tell you that Miquella’s light has disappeared from his mind. “I can’t feel it. It’s broken,” he says, but he remains steadfast in his faith in Miquella and her work.
Select the option ‘Talk to Moore“At this point, however, he will begin to express his doubts further. He will say that he feels abandoned and doesn’t know what to do and will ask you a question that will have important consequences for the rest of Moore’s quest.
He asks you “What should we do? Should we be sad forever?” and you have the choice between three answers:
- Leave it behind you
- Stay sad forever
- I don’t know
Below, we’ll look at what each option means for Moore’s quest and the consequences of choosing each one.
Leave it behind you
Choosing this option will allow continue Moore’s quest until the end of the DLC. Moore will wake up to this suggestion and accept that perhaps this is the whole point of Miquella’s love – that it is “love for all the unloved.”
NB: Choosing this option also allows you to obtain the Black Syrup for Thiollier if you missed the second step of Moore’s quest and don’t already have it.
Once you have exhausted Moore’s dialogue and rested at a Grace Site, he will leave his location at Main Gate Cross, and you will not encounter him again until the end of the DLC. As a result, make sure you buy everything you want from him now because you won’t get another chance later.
Stay sad forever
Moore will go into a spiral of sadness and simply repeat the same line of dialogue over and over again. You will no longer be able to use him as a merchant, and once you leave the area, he will walk away from Main Gate Cross.
You will find it just north of the Church of the Crusade to Scadu Altus (where you’ll fight the Fire Knight Queelign as part of his respective quest), where his body will lie on the ground, embracing a brood of foragers.
You will be able to loot his Bell Bearing, Verdigris Great Shield and Verdigris Armor Set, and Moore’s quest will end here.
I don’t know
Moore will admit that he doesn’t know what to do either, and you will be given the choice to choose one of the other options again.
However, you can also let Moore figure it out for himself, and choose that option Stall Moore’s Quest indefinitely. He will remain at Main Gate Cross until the end of the game, and you will not be able to obtain his armor set or Bell Bearing.
Fourth and final meeting
If you choose “Put Him Behind You”, you will meet Moore again at the end of Shadow of the Erdtree in Enir-Ilim during the fight against Knight of the Needle Ledaand you will have to defeat him in battle.
NB: Killing Moore in this fight will completely wipe the Forager Brood from the map, preventing you from collecting any more Forager Brood cookbooks.
At the end of the fight, you will be able to loot the following items from his corpse in the arena (which are the same rewards as the previous points in Moore’s quest where it could have ended earlier):
- Moore bell bearing
- Large Verdigris Shield
- Verdigris helmet
- Verdigris Armor
- Verdigris Gauntlets
- Verdigris Leggings
This will finally conclude Moore’s quest. In some ways, while ending Moore’s quest early and telling him to be sad forever is both dark and rather depressing, it will make this final fight against Leda a little easier. There’s no difference in the items you can get from him, and you’ll have one less opponent to worry about at the same time. The choice is yours of course, so do what you think is best for Moore.
