The search engine giant from Mountain View is now known for clearing up rumors shortly before its hardware events and spoiling the design of its new smartphones.
This is also the case with the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. This confirms the Manufacturer on the one hand, the naming of the foldable and the integration into the main smartphone series of Pixel phones, and on the other hand, a revision of the design.
The camera element on the back of the Fold now resembles a square and is no longer a continuous bar like on the Pixel 9 Pro. Google will probably also make changes to the camera under the hood:
- While the Pixel 9 Pro is said to feature an improved ultra-wide-angle and telephoto camera (new sensor, 50 megapixels), the Pixel 9 Pro Fold appears to be a downgrade.
- The foldable is said to have a smaller sensor with a resolution of 12 megapixels.
Everything in the sign of Gemini
As the teaser on the website shows, the in-house AI will play a very big role. “A foldable phone for the Gemini era,” says Google.
It is expected that Google will present further Gemini innovations at the Pixel event that we will see on the new Pixel smartphones.
The tech giant may integrate “Zoom Enhanced”an AI feature that was announced last year but has not yet been integrated.
Unlike last year, the manufacturer will likely equip all Pixel 9 smartphones with the latest Tensor G4 chip. In 2023, the Pixel Fold was still launched with the Tensor G2 chip, while the eighth generation of Google phones was equipped with the successor chip.
The Pixel event officially starts on August 13th at 7:00 p.m.In addition to the two top smartphones, the standard model and the Pixel 9 XL are also expected, which essentially replaces the previous Pro model. Google will therefore also bring a smaller Pro model onto the market.
In addition to the Pixel Watch 3, the manufacturer could also introduce a larger version of the smartwatch for wider wrists, the Pixel Watch 3 XL. Last but not least, the rumor mill is also speculating about a successor to the Pixel Tablet. We are excited.
