After Derek Kolstad wrote the script for the first John Wick in 2014, he wrote Nobody, a kind of clone of John Wick starring Bob Odenkirkas well as the sequel scheduled for 2025. More recently, he is known for writing two episodes of the Marvel series The Falcon & The Winter Soldier. But today, the 50-year-old screenwriter returns with a project that is more intriguing than ever, because it is a comic book called “Planet Death.”

In a science fiction universe Planet Death lets us follow the adventures of a human fleet that sets out to conquer space, which turns out to be more difficult than expected. Along the way, he comes across a particularly hostile alien planet that hides a devastating weapon that must be destroyed at all costs. While they have barely set foot on the planet’s soil, Corporal Scott sees his troops decimated by the dozens. Left to his own devices, he must don armor to survive and do his duty.to destroy this menacing weapon. To get there, he must face aliens, human deserters and a wildlife that is anything but friendly.

On the way to a cinematic adaptation?

With Thomas Giorello for the illustration and Robert Venditti for the screenplay, Derek Kolstad offers a story full of allusions to science fiction. With this lone soldier in his imposing armor, it’s hard not to see a nod to Starcraft and Warhammer 40,000, as the parallel with the Marines is obvious.
