As promised, Blizzard revealed a ton of information about the first new class in Diablo 4, the Evilborn, during a dedicated livestream. We got our first look at gameplay of the new class, learned about its origins, how it fits into the larger context, and got a peek at some of the new gear that’s coming to the game with it.
The Spiritborn, as the name implies, are warriors who have allied themselves with spirit animals. They wield swords, are skilled in hand-to-hand combat, and can summon their spirit animals in battle.

The Spiritborn reveal was more unique than your average developer livestream, with higher production values than a patch livestream. The new class itself is an evolution of multiple classes throughout Diablo’s history, but it’s not exactly like any of them.
Blizzard says the Spiritborn is the fastest and most aggressive class in Diablo 4, and the different Spirit Beasts associated with it further enrich its combat style. As you’ll see in the game trailer, combat moves and combat styles will change depending on which Spirit Beast you ally yourself with.
Similar to a Druid, when playing as a Spiritborn you can choose a spirit to align yourself with, each spirit offering its own bonuses. You can later have two spirits, one with a primary bonus and one with a secondary bonus.
The four Spiritborn are the Jaguar, Eagle, Gorilla, and Centipede. In addition to their unique abilities and how they affect the class’s combat moves, they each come with some creative visual effects that you’ll see when you play as a Spiritborn.
The Eccentric is only available to owners of the Ship of Hatred expansion, released on October 8. You can choose it as your starting class like any existing class, and its unique class quest will be triggered at level 15.
