Former developers of Helldivers 2, World of Warcraft and Battlefield founded the new studio Blue Scarab Entertainment with the help of NetEase.
While there is usually so much reporting about closures and layoffs in the video game industry, today there is finally some positive news.
Former developers of well-known games such as Helldivers 2, World of Warcraft and Battlefield are founding a new studio in Stockholm, Sweden. They are supported by the Chinese company NetEase.
Under the name of “Blue Scarab Entertainment“ do you want a Story-oriented MMORPG created in Unreal Engine 5.
Collin Cragg, CEO of Blue Scarab Entertainment said in a press release: “With the support of NetEase Games, we are able to bring our vision to life. We are grateful for their commitment to creative freedom, supporting expertise and resources as we embark on this adventure.”
Former Blizzard lead designer Craig Morrison will serve as studio head in addition to Cragg.
“Innovation through iteration can be very powerful,” says Morrison.
“Our goal is to use all the expertise our team has accumulated to create new experiences for a larger audience than ever before. We want to try to defy the expectations of the genre while leveraging all the skills and experience of the team we have assembled.”
There was no timetable for the game in development at the time of this announcement.
