Hideki Kamiya, creator of Okami, Bayonetta & Devil May Cry, is no longer with Platinum Games. In fact, he is currently unemployed. But he’s been thinking about his future in video game development, and if a recent interview is any indication, he already knows exactly where and what he wants to do next.
You see, Kamiya recently appeared in an UNSEEN interview with Ikumi Nakamura. There, Kamiya revealed that he wasn’t retiring and wanted to do Okami 2 and Viewtiful Joe 3 with Capcom. He wants to make a sequel to Okami for 2 reasons. For one thing, Okami ranked highly in Capcom’s survey that measures fan interest in the company’s game IPs and characters. Another reason is that he still wants to finish Okami’s story, which he feels is unfinished.
As for Viewtiful Joe 3, he just wants to work on it. It wasn’t one of the possible choices in the poll, so he actually sent Capcom a reply saying “I’m Hideki Kamiya, let me make a sequel to Viewtiful Joe”. He says that despite Capcom highlighting some fan comments, his input was not reflected in the poll results. You can see a video of Kamiya talking about it below.
