Pokemon Go hosts a Tynamo Community Day event on July 21 from 2-5pm local time.
As expected at a Community Day event, Tynamo will appear in large numbers and there is a high chance that it will appear shiny. There are also several other bonuses and perks that we have listed below.
How do I catch a shiny Tynamo?
According to old research from the now defunct website The Silph Road (via Wayback Machine), shiny rates on Community Days are around 1 in 24, meaning you should find a lot of shiny Pokémon if you play through the entire three-hour window.
If you are short on time or Pokéballs, you can incensethen quickly bet on every Tynamo to look for shiny ones and run away from any that aren’t shiny. In particular, any Tynamo you’ve already tapped will look where your player is standing. This should help you identify which ones you may have already checked.
What Community Day move does Tynamo learn in his evolution?
If you evolve Eelektrik into Eelektross between 2 and 10 p.m. your local time, it will learn the fast movement Volt switch.
If you don’t manage to evolve it during that time frame, you’ll likely be able to evolve it to get Volt Switch during a Community Day weekend event in December. If you don’t want to wait, you can use an Elite TM to get the switch.
How does Eelektross perform in the meta?
In terms of raids and gyms, Eelektross isn’t that great. It’s outclassed by Ultra Beast Xurkitree, Legendaries like Zekrom and Thundurus, and Megas like Ampharos and Manectric. Even if you don’t have the Legendaries, Megas, and Shadows, Pokemon like Electivire, Magnezone, and Luxray do more damage than Eelektross.
In terms of PvP, there are many Electric types that are superior to Eelektross, so it’s not really worth investing in.
How do I make the most of Tynamo Community Day?
The following bonuses are active during Tynamo Community Day:
- 1⁄4 Hatching distance for eggs laid in incubators during the event
- Double candies for catching Pokémon
- Double chance for trainers level 31 and above to receive XL Candy by catching Pokémon.
- Frankincense lasts three hours
- Lure modules last three hours
- Tynamo’s special photobombs when taking snapshots
- An additional specialty trade
- Halved Stardust costs for trading
Still, you should definitely put your eggs in incubators, burst some incense, and try to grab some powerful Tynamo.
If you can Mega Evolution Ampharos or ManectricYou will receive additional Tynamo candies for each catch.
In addition, Niantic is also running special four-star raids from 5pm-10pm where Tynamo will appear within a 300-meter radius of the gym for 30 minutes when you complete the Eelektrik raid. These raids cannot be done remotely. If you don’t get the Tynamo you want with the usual 2pm-5pm spawn increase, you can try raiding for another chance.
