At Capcom’s 45th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, shareholders fielded questions regarding the much-loved Mega Man franchise and the plans the company has in store for fans of the long-running series. Capcom responded by saying that the Mega Man series is one of their highly regarded IPs and that they are thinking about how to continuously create games for it. Capcom also spoke to shareholders about the games that won the Capcom Super Elections and said they wanted to re-use their classic IP. Here’s what was said:
Q: Please tell me what your plans are for the Mega Man series.
A: Mega Man is one of our highly regarded IPs and we are considering how to create games for it
on an ongoing basis.
Q: Will the results of the Capcom Super Elections affect which titles you develop in
future? I would like you to consider releasing new titles in popular series, not just remakes
existing games.
A: We value all our IPs and think of ways to use them not only in games but also in other things
the media too. As games, we feel that gameplay is also the special appeal of IP
important and we have multiple access to our games, including not only new titles
and processing, but also ports and collections. In the future, we will continue to consider how to use our IP addresses, working so that a wide range of players can enjoy these games around the world. Thank you for your valuable opinion.
