The renowned developer Yacht Club Games has recently conducted a round of questions and answers in a thread on Reddit, leaving us with multiple interesting statements by the workers.
Team members include programmer David D’Angelo, who revealed that they have received offers to be bought by other larger companies, which they have apparently rejected so far. However, he stated that they would not refuse to be bought if the decision "made sense for our situation", adding that for now they prefer to have control of the operation of the company and the games they make.
In reference to Shovel Knight Dig, D’Angelo also confirmed that it was Yacht Club Games that approached Nitrome to propose the initial idea of the game, and they expanded it and were in charge of developing the main mechanics.
They once again claimed to be open to developing a Shovel Knight sequel, though right now they have moved on with "new stuff." However, if they ever did a sequel to the game, they claim it would have a scale similar to Shovel of Hope. The idea of a physical version of Joustus "for the time being" was also discarded.
