This time the statements are about the franchise in general. Yuji Horsethe creator of the series, has maintained the tradition of a silent protagonist in many of his games since the days of the NES. However, in an interview with DenfaminicogamerHorii expressed concern that, with the evolution and increasing realism of graphicsa protagonist who doesn’t speak can seem absurd.
Recognizing the challenge this represents for future installments of the franchise, Horii and his team are looking for new ways to address this approach in the development of Dragon Quest. “As the game’s graphics evolve and become more and more realistic, if you create a protagonist who just stands there, he’s going to look like an idiot,” he says.
