With “Dynasties”, Creative Assembly is delivering a comprehensive free update for Total War: Pharaoh – and here you can find out what’s in it!
Total War: Pharaoh – Dynasties is now available as a comprehensive but free add-on for the strategy game. Creative Assembly has added a number of new features to the campaign in the expansion, including new map regions, cultures, units, gameplay mechanics and more.
The newly available cultures include Babylon, Assyria, Mycenae and Troy. Each of the four cultures offers a unique campaign experience with historical leaders, their own armies and deities that can be worshipped. There are also 25 smaller factions to choose from, such as the Aeolians led by Achilles or the Napata led by the warrior king Memnon.
Dynasties now also covers large parts of the ancient world – from the Aegean Sea to Mesopotamia and ancient Egypt. The size of the original campaign map has been doubled and now offers 168 new settlements, historical landmarks, objectives and more. There are also new sea routes to increase the speed of the fleets.
The eponymous dynasty system allows you to establish a family tree to ensure that your empire withstands the passage of time. You can enter into strategic marriages to ensure succession, but the system also includes deaths on the battlefield, assassinations and the threat of death in old age.
In terms of military, over 150 new and revised units await you, including cavalry, camel riders and faction-specific units such as the elite guards of Troy. The new combat mechanics include the optional lethality modifier, which is intended to make battles more realistic by increasing the risk.
