Europe’s games half-year charts 2024: “EA Sports FC 24” wins convincingly
The European Football Championship dominated the sporting agenda of the past few weeks – and when it came to video games, there was no getting around the king of sports, football.
As the cross-platform half-year analysis by GfK Entertainment shows, EA SPORTS FC 24 was the most successful game in Europe in the first six months of 2024.
The ball sports hit from Electronic Arts was not only the best-received game overall, but also took the throne of the respective half-year hit list in all 17 countries examined, including Germany, France, Italy, Europe and Great Britain.
Nintendo icon Mario is responsible for the second and third most popular releases in the period January to June 2024, winning twice thanks to Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Other popular games include the long-seller GTA V, the ice hockey game NHL 24 and the action adventure Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
EA SPORTS FC 24 wins triple in Germany!
In the German half-year charts, which are determined separately and broken down by platform, EA SPORTS FC 24 takes the triple – and prevails on PS5, PS4 and Xbox Series. Super Mario Bros. Wonder dominates the Switch ranking, while Farming Simulator 22 performs best on PC. The most popular Xbox One title of the first six months was GTA V.
The special analysis is based on sales of video and PC games in the physical market for the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Europe, Switzerland and Sweden.
