World of Tanks Modern Armor: Metal Fest is back in 2024, with Motörhead and Rob Zombie as headline acts! New vehicles, commanders and more TOG II-heavy content are ready to blast your eardrums as soon as you get started World of Tanks Modern Armor.

Here you’ll get insight from the developers themselves into the creation process, followed by a preview of what’s to come over the course of the Heavy Metal season. If you thought the game was loud before…

This edition of Metal Fest brings two legendary acts whose integration was as epic as their legacies. According to art director Andy Dorizas, the team followed the bands’ lore down to the smallest detail to ensure everything was both unique and true to the source material.

Let’s start with the tanks: there’s the Thunder Chief Object 452K (Motörhead) and the Dragula T-55AGM (Rob Zombie). These are two collectible tanks with unlockable discounts (more on that below) that play their corresponding songs when displayed in the garage: “Ace of Spades” for the Thunder Chief and “Dragula” for the Dragula T-55AGM. The same will happen with the band-specific skins that will be released in special Metal Fest packs.

New commanders

Metal Fest also brings three new 3D commanders into battle. Who wouldn’t want Warpig, Lemmy Kilmister and Rob Zombie as 3D hero commanders at their side?

Yes, you read that right. World of Tanks Modern Armor worked directly with Motörhead to create a lifelike version of the band’s legendary frontman. The band was thrilled to be involved in incorporating Lemmy’s legacy into a video game – something he really enjoyed.

Bringing Warpig to life has an even crazier story. Audio Director Brendan Blewett says that when working with Motörhead, the band contributed several ideas to the voice design for the Warpig 3D Commander, based on Motörhead’s iconic mascot of the same name. They wanted a character that would be a Cross between a wild, free-spirited biker with no rules and an English bulldog.

Fans and gamers will be hearing Warpig’s voice for the first time, so it had to be authentic to the character and the band. Following Motörhead’s instructions, Blewett spent hours recording the snorts and grunts of his sister-in-law’s puggle (Ollie) and mixed it with lines from a British voice actor to bring the band’s mascot to life as the imposing 3D Hero Commander.

As for the Rob Zombie Commander, according to Dorizas, the man himself chose the 3D model in the game that he liked the most.

New tanks

Once your lineup is complete, dive into the Metal Fest community event and win the challenge!

For this event, choose between Team Rob Zombie or Team Motörhead and join the community in earning points for team-specific rewards and discounts on both the Thunder Chief Object 452K (pictured) and the Dragula T-55AGM. Choosing Rob Zombie will net you the HMH AMX Modèle 58 as a final reward, and choosing Motörhead will net you the HMH Huntsman Centurion. Both vehicles are part of the game’s legendary Heavy Metal Heroes roster.

Metal Fest will blow your mind! Plus, expect new tank contracts, returning Metal Fest content from last year, and more! It’s a great build-up to the upcoming Soviet line from WWII and a new Brazilian-origin light tank for WWII mode.
