Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics it was announced to the surprise of many during the last Nintendo Direct presentation and fans are eagerly awaiting the exact release date of the game. Gaming site Dextero spoke with Shuhei Matsumoto, the producer of the collection, to discuss how the collection inevitably came to be. He revealed that “the team has been wanting to re-release for years and years” and that they finally got a push from Marvel, thanks to the company noticing “community-based tournaments at places like EVO.”
“As far as past Marvel titles developed by Capcom, this is something that myself and the team have wanted to re-release for years and years. It was just a matter of timing and making sure everyone was on board. We’ve actually been in talks with Marvel for years to see if we can make it happen.
They were on board too. Because of this, it was as if the stars had aligned. The timing was great, and now we’re actually able to bring it to life. We are all very excited. And part of the inspiration for this was Marvel noticing community tournaments at places like EVO.
With Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and other Marvel tournaments going on, they know that people really love the series and really want these games to be available on modern platforms, so now is their chance to do that.”
